Amboseli Elephants dying, possible poisoning

NAIROBI — The death of 15 elephants in the span of a month in southern Kenya’s Amboseli National Park under unexplained circumstances has sparked outrage in the country, where wildlife tourism is an economic pillar.

Headed out on 8/5 on the Classic Safari with 2 days in ANP. This makes me so sad and angry. Why would anyone poison these beautiful creatures???!!!
Well, maybe if they were poisoned…..it is known that poachers poison de-horned rhinos so they don’t track them by mistake. So maybe if there are a lot of tuskless elephants around, they might do the same sort of thing.
It's suspected cyanide poisoning after eating pesticide-sprayed tomatoes from nearby farms.
Amboseli NP is known for its great elephant herds and the mighty Kilimanjaro as backdrop. I just came back with beautiful memories of these herds parading in front of Kilimanjaro, moving through the swamp in the morning, and crossing right in front of our jeep in the golden sunset light.

There's also an age-old conflict between farmers and elephants that eat their crops.
That's devastating, I hope they make sure it does not continue to happen., I loved Amboseli.
