Rome Hotels

Not my usual preference, but we will be in Rome for 2 nights next August. Air conditioning that works well will be a top priority. Location less important since this is our third visit, except to say that we'd prefer a quieter location.

Not looking to spend a huge amount of money but I also know that even 500 euro doesn't get you much these days.

Any suggestions?

Last summer we stayed at the Hotel Lancelot. It's about 3 blocks from the Colloseum but quiet. I think we spent around 200 euro/night for a suite room. Not a big place and they had a decent breakfast buffet.

Thanks Reader 4. Will check that out. Does anyone have any recent experience with the Indigo St. George? Tauck uses it for the Tuscany and Umbria trip, which ends in Rome. We stayed there 4 years ago and my notes are skimpy on that one, which I guess means I thought it was average. I do remember liking the quieter location.

no complaints - stayed there after the Tuscany/Umbria trip a few years ago.

We enjoyed it. Centrally located and we even walked to a laundromat because we connected to another tour a couple of days later.

Wan, my favorite hotel in Rome is the Albergo delSenato. Pretty sure it is air conditioned, and it has a great rooftop bar. It is, however, located right acrosss from the Pantheon so you might find the neighborhood too buzzy. La Dolce Vita!

Hi SandyFeet, I had seen that one, and even wrote to them. The reservations person replied promptly which was very impressive. She did mention the street noise.

I just found a Marriott property near the Pantheon on a side street. Hoping for "American style" air conditioning. The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, Autograph Collection. If by chance anyone has any experience with this please let me know.

Or any other suggestions. Looks like someone just started another thread on this.
