When I was in Loen, the above wasn't available, but I did take the Skylift up to the top and hiked around for a while.

Thank you. Can’t wait to see it but I will not be climbing the ladder.
Wow, beautiful
Interesting that our Scandinavia tour this summer includes the skylift instead of the troll car ride on day 9.
We enjoyed the sky lift in 2019, when the cruise we were on unexpectedly docked in Olden because we had missed a different port due to weather. It was a nice day - we chose an excursion which stopped at a National Park center that focused on glaciers, then drove through a valley along a Lake to a viewpoint for Kjenndal Glacier, then back to the dock area for the sky lift. Lovely views and we did walk around a bit and watched paragliders prepping and taking off.
The ship also offered the Briksdal Glacier excursion. This the one that has the troll cars. We had visited Briksdal quite a few years ago. We hiked in to see the glacier. We did see the troll cars. Handy if you don't have time to hike, the weather is bad or you do not want to hike or have mobility issues.
We won't see the Briksdal Glacier so that's a bummer.
Claudia Sails - I have read that has receded quite a bit.
It has receded a lot, when I went in 2022 I saw pictures of what it was and is incredible how much less is now.
Claudia why aren't you going to the glacier ? that was part of the Scandinavia tour in 2022.
Gladys, we got a letter last month that they couldn't secure the Troll Cars for our group due to high demand and limited availability. No other way to get to the Glacier ("steep and narrow nature of the accent") so instead we're doing the Loen Skylift cable care to Mt Hoven promising "breathtaking scenery" and walking trails. They didn't mention there is also a couple of ziplines. I watched some videos and don't think I'll bother with those. I have wanted to do a zipline but that didn't look like what I'd enjoy. Will be happy to stroll around and enjoy the view.
We’ve zip lined quite a few times. To be honest, there is a level of anxiety and it’s so fast you don’t really get chance to take it all in the scenery but it’s great to say you went ziplining.
I had a full blown panic attack on a zip line in Costa Rica and had to be taken down. My husband said that he never heard me swear like a sailor. Same thing happened on the Sydney Bridge climb. I tried and decided heights are not for me.
OurTravels, I am a sailor and given how high above the ground you are at the Loen zipline can easily see me swearing like a sailor.
I guess I have a gem- my wife is afraid of a lot of things like spiders (though she braved both spiders and bats during the deep descent into the Meidom Pyramid!!), but will always give a new adventure a try (then often ends up liking it), e.g. Parasailing over the Miraflores Pacific Ocean cliffs in Lima, ziplining in Maui, doors-off helo flight over Wiamea Canyon and Napali Coast, microlight flight over Victoria Falls and bungee jumping from the falls bridge
!!!
And . . . bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge!!!
Nope!!! No way!!! She does have her limits!
