july 7-16, 2025 Tanzania to Zanzibar
There are 4 of us traveling from Tennessee. I am curious as to others in our group and their country departure.

I am looking at this date with the option of gorilla trekking in Rwanda before meeting up in Arusha for the Tauck tour.
You can take this very tour that includes the gorilla trek at the end of the tour. Also, if you haven’t booked the gorilla trek for July, it is likely sold out by now.
July 7 has sold out but other close dates are available. There are trekking permits still available. I’d rather do the trek first. Just my preference.
I understand. I think last is better, just my opinion because you have time to get used to the time change and then the elevation in the Serengeti before you get to the 8000 to 10000 feet in Rwanda. Also, depending on your fitness, you have a better chance of joining a group in your fitness level if you go with a Tauck group. This is obviously no worry if you are fit, but if not, say you end up in a group that has to hike maybe for six hours there and back to get to your gorilla group. I’m not sure if it would be cheaper doing it yourself or not, but that also may be not a problem for you.
I was thinking that I would lose the advantage of being used to the elevation on the safari portion after spending time in Zanzibar. Also, I was planning to spend a few days in Rwanda before trekking. Your remarks give me something to think about. Thank you.
Rwanda is beautiful, We really enjoyed the drive to the park. Rolling green countryside and people in colorful costume walking by the roadside. The Genocide museum is also not to be missed.
