Packing for October

I am wondering what to pack for this trip heading north starting October 6. On past Tauck river trip which was in August we needed something a little more dressy for 2 dinners of site in special places . I have not seen anything that addresses this . I am assuming I need to pack layers to address cooler temps over the course of the trip .

I went last May on this cruise, nice slacks and tops are all that is needed for the welcome, farewell and there is a dinner in a castle, all other nights aboard sometimes I did not change except for shoes for dinner or wore nice slacks and top.

Research the weather before you go.
