`Bridge's "A Grand Family Safari"
We are a family of 13 - myself, my husband, my daughter and son and their spouses and 7 grand kids ages 9, 12, 13, &15 going on the December 24th Safari. Although my husband and I have been on many Tauck Trips, including South Africa, this is a first for my family. Checking to see if anyone else is on that particular trip. I have read a lot of the posts in the Forum and hopefully have planned accordingly - still working on the Visas and did schedule another post trip night in Arusha to accommodate the late return to the Gran Melia - flights don't depart til early on Jan. 3!, not happy about the extra expense, but better safe than sorry! If anyone has any advice from a recent trip please let me know. SUPER EXCITED!

We took this tour in July 2024, there were 9 of us. We were also concerned about the late arrival at the Melia on the last day as were others. The tour director was well aware of this and could not understand why Tauck still included the visit to the Shanga project because it was a problem for every tour date. So they do not include it on the tour and I’m surprised they still have it scheduled on the tour page. I don’t think you miss much by not going there either. We had a good amount of time to repack and relax a bit before we headed to the airport. We flew Qatar, which was one of the earlier flights, early evening and not late night. Having been to Tanzania four times and other locations in Africa, we find it the best flight, service etc and a good price.
We actually took the K and T and Rwanda tour 2019 over the Christmas holiday. The short rains were ending late so on a couple of days we encountered thunderstorms and flooded roads. The walking safari was squelching through grassland. We did get some great photos of a very soggy male lion with his mane plastered all round his face and looking miserable plus a cheetah with five wet cubs….always new things to encounter on safari. Hope your tour director is Chris Mancini and one of the best, good looking too 😀
