Could anyone tell me the name and place of the cooking class that is offered in Marrakesh? We are staying an extra day at the Four Seasons and we are trying to decide which of the options we should choose.
We took the Magic of Morocco trip on 10/12/25 and debated the same options. Our wonderful TD Chris Morrison helped by suggesting we switch from the cooking class to Essaouira and we are so pleased that we did. It is rigorous leaving the hotel at 7 am but we had so much fun on the last day with our fantastic travelers and the town is so picturesque. We had a delightful lunch and took in the sea breezes. We barely got back in time for the final party but it was totally worth it. You will absolutely love this trip! It was our favorite in 13 Tauck tours.
When we went to Morocco last year, the goats we saw in trees were not just for the tourists.
We stayed in Essaouira over night in a very swanky hotel and toured the fish market area and went into the bazar . It’s a really nice place to visit. It’s a favorite of the Germans for the winter so lots of German food choices too.
There were no goats in the trees when I was in Morocco with Tauck in 2024. We were told that they stopped the practice because it was seen as cruelty to animals. If Google is correct, then they've changed their mind.
The location of my photos say it was in Tiout We were high in the mountain areas where few tourists go. The area was really barren with just these trees which the goats were fighting to feast on.
Thank you, everyone. I would love to know the name of the cooking class so that I could do it independently on the last day I am there if I take the Essaouira trip, which was my thinking.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class on the last day of the tour. It is a bit of a drive from the hotel, so you will need to take a cab.The setting is lovely. The kitchen very modern... with stations for each person learning... sink, stovetop and screen to see what the cook is suggesting. You learn together in front and then do your own meal at your station. Then you all eat lunch together outside at a large patio area. We each received our own tangine to cook on at home. We had fun!
I would ask your tour director to make the arrangements with you for your extended day.
jteiii - we are going on this trip soon as well and would join you for the cooking class on the extra day. Send me a message to see if our trip dates match up:)

Don't miss the goat trees on the road to Essaouira - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2022-1Morocco-05.htm
I had heard that Morocco stopped the goat trees, but a Google search says that they are still going. They're not real - just for tourist.

Other suggestion is to look on Trip Advisor and read reviews of each

Thank you, Brenda. Do you remember what the name of the cooking class was, i.e., the location?
