I am going on the July 23rd trip as well. I have never been to Africa and this is our first Tauck trip. Any tips on what to pack would be great.
You will fall in love with Africa! This particular trip will definitely be life changing for you!
Kathyblack - it looks like we're on the same tour!!! On Facebook I've been chatting w/a woman who went on the first tour of the Spotlight on South Africa in January and she loved it which was great to hear. I asked some questions and she was very helpful. I did just ask about the safari portion, but haven't heard back yet from her. This will be my 8th tour with Tauck and I'm a solo traveler. I'm fairly new to solo travel and I've done 2 solo river cruises, this will be my first solo land tour. I'm flying out of Boston connecting in Amsterdam with Delta/KLM.
Tauck has a generic packing list on its tour page. A few bits of dressy clothes for the Johannesburg and Cape Town parts of the tour. For safari it’s best to wear clothing that has long sleeves and long pants for protection from mosquitoes. It can be quite cold early morning and the evenings on safari as its winter so do have some warm clothing you can strip off easily as it warms up.
