South Africa Great Adventure - solo traveler
I have booked the Sept. 25 tour and am traveling solo from California. Is it worthwhile to go a day before the actual tour starts to recover from jet lag? Is it worthwhile to go to Robbie Island? Are there any other solo travelers going at this time?

Yes, Robben island is worth going to, but getting there is very weather dependent because ferries can be canceled as the seas are often rough. I also recall something about the island being closed for renovation a while ago, so you need to check that too.
British is 100% correct. Go the day before your tour starts so you can adjust to the time zone and allow your body to recoup from the air travel!
I visited Robben Island in March. It's completely open!
Definitely arrive early to get adjusted . We will arrive in Capetown 3 days early for 9/11/26 tour. Lots to see. Check out YouTube videos on V & A waterfront activities and dining. Delta non-stop from Atlanta only 2 days each week. Time to get up to date on vaccines.
