Hey All! Thanks so much for your responses! I removed the jeans but will keep the spare sneakers. I don't wear anything but sneakers and am just bringing shoes for the welcome dinner so a backup will be nice just in case I can't fully dry my regular pair due to the Falls. I hate wet socks/sneakers! LOL.
I moved some stuff that saves on weight and it looks like I'm closer to 40 lbs so that's great. I have the hardshell luggage and empty it's around 12 lbs. I seriously don't understand how I get so close to the weight limit...drives me crazy how bad I am at packing!
I'll get a better weight when my brother or nephew can do it for me tomorrow when I see them, but I think I'm in a better place than I was earlier.
The games drives are in open air vehicles so there is dust, but we didn't get that dirty. It is cool enough that you won't get that sweaty right now. They give you a poncho to wear at the falls but the lower legs and shoes will get wet. All the hotels have a hair dryer.
Kathy, on African tours I often leave items of clothing/shoes for the staff at the lodges where we stay. They are always most appreciative as long as you notify the people in charge of the lodge/camp. You would not want to let anyone think that the staff had stolen items you left behind for them.
I have also left clothes behind for the staff at the lodges. I purposefully have purchased t-shirts (very cheap) with the intention of leaving them behind.
In my opinion, your suitcase when just empty weighs too much. My 25” Samsonite suitcase just weighs 6 lbs. My typical clothes for these kind of trip is safari pants, , t-shirt, a Columbia long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt. I bring a fleece and a windbreaker for over my fleece. You start to peel off clothes as the day heats up. It is chilly the mornings, warm or hot in the afternoon and chilly in the evenings. You will need a cotton neck buff for the dust. They have them online or at outdoor recreation stores. Have fun.

We always take neck buffs. They are good for sun protection around your neck, making having binoculars and cell phone or cameras straps around your neck more comfortable. In dusty conditions can be pulled over your nose.

gregm - someone posted on FB a few months ago who did this tour in January and said the TD gave neck gaiters. Was that the case on your tour?
Also, how was your TD? I wonder if I'll have the same person.
