Bellissima Northern Italy - Two Quick Questions

We've booked the Bellissima Northern Italy Tour for May of 2027. For those of you who have taken this tour, does Tauck's Itinerary include a visit to Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper (closed on Mondays)? Also, does Tauck's Itinerary include visiting the roof top of the Milan Duomo (by elevator/steps)? If not, we will book these visits on our own. Many thanks in advance!

Neither the Last Supper nor the rooftop of the Duomo was included when I took this tour last year. I did both on my own before the tour started. I did the Last Supper on my own, and booked a tour on Viator that went to the Duomo roof. You have to get tickets to the Last Supper several months in advance.

Many thanks, MCD! I normally use Viator for extra not-to-miss side trips before the actual Tour starts. Always had a successful outcome booking with Viator......

Hi Mary, I went on this tour last September and as MCD noted, neither were included on the tour. I tried to get tickets to the Last Supper directly on their website, in advance, but was not able too. The hotel Tauck used in Milan was a short walk to the Duomo and the front desk was able to get our tickets for the Duomo rooftop, just a day in advance. On the tour, we went inside the cathedral, but not the rooftop. We were lucky enough to have a picture perfect day of clear blue sky. It was pretty amazing and the whole tour was great. There was a museum that we visited as part of the tour and they had a replica of the Last Supper.

When on another Tauck your that began in Milan, we booked the Duomo tour that included the rooftop…not to be missed. I think we also booked the tour that sort of included the ‘fast pass’ elevator to nearer the top…you still have to climb some stairs.
We had to collect the tickets in a less obvious office down the side and opposite the cathedral where we met our guide.
Tauck included the Last Supper. They do not seem to have the clout to obtain such tickets anymore.

We're going on the Bellissima tour in 2027, planning to arrive in Milan two days early. I'm starting to look at what to book outside the planned activities. I get rooftop Duomo and Last Supper need to be on our own. What about La Scala? Does Tauck go inside? Is it a don't miss thing I should investigate? Thanks!

Lauri, if you can get tickets to the opera do it; otherwise I would skip going into La Scala - it's ok but time is better spent elsewhere. Consider the museums Pinoteca Ambrosiana and the Poldi Pezzoli. Also, the museum associated with the Duomo is good. Sforza Castle is fun and we discovered a charming botanical garden the other year. Strange as it sounds, the Monumentale Cemetery is wonderful. Last, I agree with British - going to the rooftop of the Duomo is a real highlight.

When I went a couple of years ago, La Scala was not on the published itinerary as part of the tour, so I booked a tour on my own. It turned out that the Tauck tour did include a tour of La Scala. However, I also booked a performance there on my own. I did not care for the opera (a Kurt Weill trilogy), but am very glad that I had the experience. La Scala was just a couple of blocks from the Tauck hotel.

The Monument Cemetery is like walking through a garden of gorgeous sculptures and mausoleums. There is also a dedicated Jewish section if that interests you.

Mercato Centrale Milano is a wonderful food market in close proximity to the Duomo. It is located beneath the main railway station.

When I did this trip last September, Tauck included a local guide for a walking tour around Milan and we walked past La Scala opera house. She told us about it, but we did not go inside.
