Bai Tu Long Bay vs Lan Ha Bay for first timers

Hello, I will be going on the VCT trip in February with my daughter. We are looking at a one night cruise and are considering either:

Bai Tu Long Bay on the Dragon Legend with Indochina Junk OR
Lan Ha Bay on the Heritage Line Ginger.

If you have any recent feedback on either of these can you please let me know. We might also do instead the one whole day tour with Indochina Junk.

    We went to Ha Long Bay so I don't have any information on those other two Bays.

    We left Hanoi with the tour company about 8am and then sailed the bay, arriving back at the hotel in time for the welcome dinner. I would have liked to spend the night on the bay, but couldn't make flight arrangements that worked.

    Hi Mike, I looked at your travel notes and photos. I especially loved your elephant photos! I've already been in touch with the concierge and also waiting to speak to the travel agent. I was just hoping to get some feedback on any overnight itineraries as this seems to be popular. Thank you!

    I wonder if it is worth calling Tauck to see which company they used to visit Ha Long Bay for the overnight tour that was included on the Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos tour that we took a few years ago.It was a.charming traditional wooden boat. We visited a traditional fishing village on the water and caves where there were monkeys. It was very peaceful to be there at night and the early morning, I particularly enjoyed the bus ride there, passing all the rice fields,,villages and see entire families riding on s motor bike. It was really better on the way being in a bus to take photos than say in a taxi… though people mention here that there is a newer road, so maybe it bypasses all the interesting scenery and local life going on.

    I found another company called Elite of the Seas for overnights in Ha Long Bay. Just wondering if anyone has used this? Or can rcommend any other? Thanks.

    We did the Ha Long Bay trip before the Tauck tour began. Booked directly before the Tauck trip. Our crew was keen to get to the cave area early so we had it to ourselves.Worked out great. For us it was a must do before the Hanoi city tour began.
