Yes kfnknfzk, I did tour the Imperial War museum and Churchill war rooms and found them so interesting! I did that when I went in 2 days early on the London/Paris tour, which was my first extended stay in London.
We were having breakfast out when a teenager in the next booth was complaining to his father about his history class. “I am so sick and tired of having to read about World War Eleven.”
Reminds me of naming the movie 'The Madness of King George' based on the play 'The Madness of George III'. It was thought that the pubic would think it was the third installment, like 'Rocky III'.......................................................
There was an excellent documentary on the 6888 Battalion of 700+ predominantly African American women in the Army who were sent to England, and later to Rouen, France, to process millions of undelivered mail addressed to troops. They worked tirelessly in rat-infested warehouses to get the job done in record time.
They were finally recognized last year but only Fannie (105 years old) was left. There have been multiple books written about the women, but I can’t attest to the historical accuracy of those books.
So glad I found this forum - just booked for June 2027. Will arrive in Bath 1 day prior, then stay 3 nights after in London before joining my kids in France. Have been to London several times, but have always wanted to spend more time in the countryside as well as seeing Bath. Looks like the perfect fit!!
JaneP, we have a collection of reusable Tauck water bottles from river cruises. On this tour did they supply you with one. If not I will bring my own. thanks
We just got back from this tour and your help was invaluable, as were some of the comments from others. This was just a marvelous tour, we loved all the activities (except the tin mine which was a tour of an abandoned tourist attraction). In London we enjoyed the Ivy Grill and the Delauney was a lovely restaurant, thanks for those recommendations. We were able to walk to the London Eye from the beautiful One Aldwych and took the river cruise there, which was a quick way to get our eyes on lots of sights.
We were fortunate to be with a delightful group, a charming TD, and an excellent driver on a larger coach than the one your group used - so thank you for encouraging Tauck to do something about that. For anyone wondering if this tour is worth it, I say absolutely. We loved seeing different parts of England and engaging in some unique experiences. Hotels were terrific, too - although the service at Fowey Hall was not up to Tauck standards - but what a view! I see they are not using the Fairmont Windsor Park next year - which is a shame. What lovely staff they have there, and it was easy to stay another day to tour Windsor Castle. But I'm sure the new hotel will be delightful.

No - they did not provide us with one Altho they do the standard give you a plastic water bottle every time you get on the bus…
