Avian Flu has closed most islands

Going on tour in late May. Just heard from Tauck that most islands are now closed and Galapagos itinerary has been drastically changed. Is it still worth going if we can’t get on Fernandina, Isabela, Genovesa and most other islands?

We are on the April 6 tour and I am wondering about the same thing.

I read online that they believe the avian flu event is over. All of the recent tests have been negative. They have not opened up yet, but if they continue to test negative there is hope for a resolution. Having been to the Galapagos three times, I know the people in power there are difficult, so optimism should be restrained. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
