1974 Florida, St Petersburg, Orlando, St Augustine my first trip alone. 11 trips later still using Tauck, my 13th trip was just cancelled again yesterday River Cruise down Rhone. Will probably push until next year again.
So ready to go travel again and all vaccinated.
Sealord - the mask policy was guided by political expediency.
Q: Why were masks not recommended earlier in the pandemic?
A: Because of inadequate supply. Suppose they were recommended sooner - then the health care workers wouldn't be able to get them. Did you forget the toilet paper fiasco?
Q: Why are masks recommended for vaccinated people?
A: Because there's no way to distinguish between the vaccinated and non-vaccinated out in public. So for now, those who have been vaccinated have to suffer because of the brain-dead, selfish folks making mask wearing a political issue, rather than following the science.
2011 - 21-day Grand Australia & New Zealand.
Ireland in 2002...we’ve visited all 7 Continents with TAUCK! We’re often asked...what’s your favorite trip...I usually answer the last one we’ve been on. #13 and 14 were cancelled this past year but counting the days until we can use our passports again.
Our 1st tour with Tauck was the Canadian Maritimes in 1997. Egypt- Jewels of the Nile in 2020 was going to be our 14th. Hopefully it will happen in February of 2022. We have taken a tour with Globus- our first overseas trip. It was the only one with them. Travelled once with Road Scholar to Cuba and once with Gate 1 to Mexico City. Tauck rules!!!
K & T and we were hooked. China was next and we were double hooked. We can’t wait to go somewhere with Tauck again.
I went through the old Naval Archives and came across what I think is an old photo of AlanS, Sealord, and BKMD (just along for the ride).
They ARE the Wright Brothers !
My favorite farewell dinner was at the One and Only wine tasting, farewell reception and dinner for the Botswana, South Africa & Zambia Safari in July 2018.
What was very unusual is that I was the only person that responded to the hotel's wine tasting invitation which was in my room on the day we arrived at the hotel.
When I arrived at the restaurant the maitre d greeted me by name as I walked in and escorted me to a private table for one preset for a formal wine tasting with multiple wine glasses and a place setting for assorted appetizers and introduced me to the sommelier.
I questioned the maitre d why the table of one and he indicated that the scheduled wine tasting was set based on the number of guests who responded to the invitation.
The sommelier proceeded with his welcome comments and explained that I would be testing 4 wines and paired appetizers. He then set 4 bottles of wine on the table and a waiter served 4 appetizers, he spoke about each wine and the suggested appetizer.
For one hour I enjoyed sampling 4 South Africa wines. When the tasting was done the maitre d thanked me for coming and noted that our Tauck dinner reservations were at 7:00 PM that evening.
When I returned for dinner the sommelier came over to the table I was at with the 4 remaining open bottles to share with those seated at the table.
The One and Only was a terrific hotel, the best rooms and with classic service for all of its guests.
Ours was our first K&T. I had been looking at OAT, but someone recommended that we look at Tauck ... who I had never heard of. So I did. Where OAT was driving, Tauck was flying, and the ‘hotels’ were of course much better. After doing more research I decided upon Tauck ... although my wife thought I had lost my mind due to the cost. It was less than twenty-four hours into the trip when she gave me ‘two thumbs up’.
