Passport Renewal

Sealord

Since people are talking about visas, I thought I would offer some recent passport renewal information. My wife needed to renew her passport, and was concerned about how long it might take. So she did a ‘paper’ application requesting expedited service, and expedited return. Total cost was about $211, and she got the passport in less than two weeks. You can apply online, but you cannot get expedited service that way.

We applied on line recently, no expedited service. My husband’s was back in 10 days. Mine has not appeared, it will be three weeks on Wednesday. It is in process according to the website. Between applying for my husband’s and mine, we could tell that 300 other people had applied in just that short time frame.

They say the normal time is something like three to six weeks, and that is what should be expected with an online application. Your husband probably did not have King George III in his profile. (;-).

It may be quicker now as the former beta testing of online renewals has ended and it's gone mainstream. I made a post about it with a link several weeks ago.

Dual citizenship is useful, not so much since Brexit but still good.
