SA, an Elegant Adventure
Hi everyone. I have a very specific question re this tour. My husband and I, plus 2 friends, are booked on this In September 2025. Will we have the opportunity to meet locals in their homes, or at community events ? As described in the recent trip report of Botswana and SA ? I see nothing about this in the itinerary. Thanks for your insights !

Not when we took the tour but that was a long time ago. We did go to a restaurant for lunch in Soweto on the tour, I’m not sure they go now. We also went to see a local dance troop of ‘troubled ‘ teenagers, I don’t think they go there now either.
Thanks British !
Hi Tillyseattle, we did this trip this past September, and "the meeting with locals or community events" was not part of the tour.It is a great trip and be prepared to see the big 5 only a few yards from the safari vehicle you tour in.
We went this October. There was an opportunity offered at Sabi Sands to visit the local community. It was not sponsored by Tauck. We did not go. Reasonbly priced and those that went liked it very much. The tour is jammed packed. We took advantahge of relaxing for a few hours between the morning and afternoon trips on the savannah.
This is a great introductory tour of what South Africa has to offer. I went in 2020 right before the world shut down. We did a drive by in Soweto, and I caught a vibe from our TA and local guide that they wanted to get us out of there ASAP. We had no interaction with the local population outside of the safari camps. You will love this adventure. Lala safari!
Thanks everyone, your insight is appreciated!
