Rain jacket for Victoria Falls ?

Hi. We will be on this trip in late August. I’ve seen folks mention the rain ponchos “provided”. I contacted the last hotel and was told we can get them from the parks department. We don’t want to get caught without any rain protection, but all our rain jackets are dark colors. Should we bring our own ponchos (or dark coats), or trust that renting them will be an option ?

Thanks for any opinions !

  • You are very unlikely to experience any spray at that time of year, the water levels will be quite low. I would not bother bringing your own rain coats.

  • Thanks British.

Tauclk rented rain ponchos and Croks from a Park vendor for us.

Right now, I can only find my latest pics of Vic Falls on this iPad which were in November. I’ve been three times and one was in September

  • British - The second picture reminds me of the Seven Sisters in Norway the first time I saw them. I never saw them raging like that again.

  • We went to the falls on May 15, and the river was at maximum flood stage. The ponchos, I was wearing two, made no difference. We were soaked to the skin. Many of the locals were wearing bathing suits.

  • Fantastic picture.
