Alaska CALL OF THE WILD

I don’t post much ( but I constantly read comments about places we are planning to visit ) but I wanted to share
Been home a week and still reflecting on our Alaska Bridges Call of the Wild.
Context … as grandparents we took two grandsons ages 14 and 13, Our original trip was to have taken place in the summer of 2024 to Canada on a bridges trip. Two days before departure, we received word from Tauck due to the wildfires in Canada this trip was being canceled. We pivoted, and selected Call of the Wild 2025
The meet up on the first night in a banquet room at Captain Cook’s hotel was an opportunity to see how many grandparents, children and grandchildren we would be with for a week
Having been to Alaska once before by cruise, which was mediocre at best, I was not sure how this would go.
The purpose for my writing is to say of the 11 trips we’ve taken with Tauck, this one was top 3. The itinerary was aggressive for 70+ grandparents but doable! And was fantastic for the ages of my grandchildren. When I asked them, their favorite parts, one replied the panning for gold in the river, the other the visit to the homestead and hearing those stories. Tauck excels at finding such interesting people to listen and interact with!
All the various modes of transportation, scenery, kept everyone’s attention.. And the physical activities were perfect for our group of four. Our tour guide Rachel was attentive, a problem solver, , and nice to all age groups
Having just come off a Tauck trip to Japan in May ….which was fine…I was a bit wary. I wanted Call of the Wild to be something these two boys would never forget, with Tauck's help we succeeded.

  • Thanks for your excellent post. Like you, I took a cruise ship along the Alaska coast a number of years ago and it was mediocre at best. Seeing it through the eyes of your grandchildren seems to have really helped.

    Great review.
Our Tauck regular Alaska tour was very unsatisfactorily, so it’s nice to know Call of the Wild was so good.
