Heathrow Logistics
Just starting to plan Day 0 sightseeing options in England. I haven't been in Heathrow in 20 years. Will be flying BA (787) direct in business class into Heathrow terminal 5 with one checked bag each and arriving around 7AM. What is the typical time needed to go from the gate, through passport control, collect luggage and get through customs?

It all depends on foot traffic and staffing levels. I was last there in 2023 and had no delays.
Three of my last four Euro trips have been on BA and included Heathrow. As long as LHR is your final destination, or you're doing a transfer to another flight within terminal 5, it's not any worse than any other airport. If you have to change terminals, then it's one of the worst and should be avoided, if possible..
It’s impossible to speculate the length of time. You just need one person in front of you who has a dodgy visa or whatever and it could really delay you, it’s happened to us twice at Heathrow.
