Barcelona to Porto, April 3, 2026

My friend and I are doing the land tour beginning April 3. It’s our first Tauck tour and we couldn’t be more excited! I’m just curious if anyone reading this has completed this tour and if there are any suggestions for making the most of it. Also, we added two days to the front in Barcelona and wonder what NOT to miss. I am not interested in the mussel farm day at the end of the tour, so hope I can opt out somehow. Is that allowed? Thanks for any advice. 🙏

  • Depending on your interests, these were sites I enjoyed in Barcelona on my own: Maritime Museum, Palau Guell (Gaudi's first commission), Santa Maria Del Mar (Cathedral of the Sea - 14th century), Roman ruins underground at the Museo d'Historia de Barcelona

  • On our own in Barcelona, we visited two of the Gaudi houses, as well as Park Guell. We also enjoyed the Picasso Museum.

  • Tour the Palau de la Musica Catalana and attend an evening performance there. Tour Casa Mila and don't miss the roof!

  • All good suggestions. I think the top 3 are the Sagrada Familia (Tauck doesn't give you enough time) and the Palau de la Musica and St Pau, the latter two by the architect Montaner. All are over the top and fabulous. If your knees can take it and if you aren't afraid of heights, consider going up the towers of the Sagrada (elevator up, walk down). I've done it twice, although I don't think my knees would hold up now. By the way, St Pau is about three blocks away from the Sagrada. I can't remember the street other than it is at at an angle. Be sure to go into the museum to learn just how progressive the times were.

Gaudi houses - Casa Vicens, a single family home, opened up last year. We really liked it. While there wasn't a tour, the employees gave lots of information. We thought it well worth going - I learned about it through Architectural Digest.

We really like the National Museum of Catalan Art - interesting art and interesting architecture. Take a taxi up and then walk down. We, too, like Park Guell and another park - Ciutadella - is really nice
