Re: 40 days until we leave for our POI tour :) Woohoo :)
tdelliott72 You will LOVE LOVE LOVE India...I think it will always be in my Top 3 Tauck tours. I do not recall any aggressiveness from the Indian men. For my India tours, I arrived a day early and arranged guides and driver through the concierges at the Leela and Imperial hotels. I do not recall much down-time. it's a fast… -
Re: Yoga in India
LindaMarie NancieWD I took the Portrait of India tour in 2018. It was a jam packed schedule. Go Go Go. I arrived two days early and had a nice massage and body treatment and toured places not included on the Tauck itinerary. I did not utilize the health club. I do recall the Leela Palace offering yoga sessions. When you… -
Re: Just returned from I/J Nov.2022
Smiling Sam...Spot-On. This is something I considered as I will be repeating a major portion of the Portrait of India tour during the Northern India/Nepal tour. Lucky for me, I thoroughly enjoyed Delhi & Agra--parts of India we will be re-visiting, but wasn't relishing visiting Mumbai--my least favorite part of the tour… -

Re: Portrait of India questions! Luggage, water, etc
Not sure of the reasoning but...for the Portrait of India tour, I received my duffel on-site. For the Northern India + Nepal tour, the duffel (which was smaller than the POI duffel) was mailed to my home. Upon arrival, the TD gave each traveler another large duffel (the same one we used for the Portrait of India tour). He… -
Re: Tauck Tour Hotels
Portrait of India—most FABULOUS hotels so far. I’m looking forward to the Northern India-Nepal tour. I wasn’t aware of sleeping under the stars (in a bed)— oh my, that’s going to be an amazing experience. I’m not your camping or glamping girl, but that canopy bed under the stars — I will definitely experience that. My… -
Re: Food on Portrait of India
MotherofPoodles Yes, you can definitely get western food on this tour. Please know you can ask the restaurant to adjust the spice level. I love Indian food but my stomach can't tolerate to much "heat". I took this tour December 2018 and I'm taking the Northern India/Nepal tour December 2023. This is a great tour...it will… -
Re: Difference in small group vs standard
Comment by JohnS · · Home› Discuss Trips by Region› United States› Southern and Midwestern USA› Southern Charms: Savannah, Hilton Head & CharlestonOur first Tauck trip was in 2015 which was Imperial Europe (now renamed to Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna & Prague). It was a full standard tour but there were only 18 people on the tour. I believe that the tour did not sell out and there were last minute cancellations. We were expecting to have about 40 people on the tour.… -
Typhoid vaccine for South Africa and Zimbabwe
Discussion by JohnS · · Home› Discuss Trips by Region› Africa› South Africa› South Africa: An Elegant AdventureIn a little over a week we are on our way to South Africa. We visited our travel clinic last week and got a supply of Maralone for anti malaria and some Z pack for the dreaded travelers diarrhea. The Dr. also recommended that we get a booster for typhoid, the oral vaccine Vivotif. The pharmacy informed us that they cannot… -

I lived in Boston a decade ago--it's my second favorite US city. I'll be meeting up with a friend I met on the Portrait of India tour and another friend who the first friend and I met on the Northern India & Nepal tour. I think we secured the 3 allocated single rooms. We have a…
