Inter Europe seat reservations

We have two interEurope flight reservations. Does Tauck help make seat reservations for these or do we have to try to do it on our own?

  • It depends on a few variables. Mainly which airline(s) and what class service you requested. With Business Class, Premium or Economy Comfort on Delta we've always picked our seats but economy you won't have much control over it other than window/aisle preferences. Some airlines won't let Tauck book specific seats again mainly due to class of service.

FYI, there is something called European Business Class which is often a plane with all economy seats but the first few rows the middle seat is blocked out.

  • If they are flights that Tauck arranged as part of the itinerary, they take care of seat assignments. If you booked the flights, you make the seat arrangements.

  • Goddess, Tauck does not always take care of the seat assignments. We are on the Blue Danube River cruise this summer with connecting flights to/from Frankfurt. I had to handle the seat assignments for those two legs. The connecting flights are with a partner airline, which may have been the reason that I had to handle the seat assignments.

  • Were these flights included as part of Tauck's itinerary? If so, Tauck takes care of seats. They have on any trip I've taken where flights were part of itinerary.

  • Tauck made the flight arrangements. I had to handle the seating. There may be differences depending on which airline you are using.

  • I do not have experience with on-tour flights. Whenever I have flown to Europe and have had to make a connecting flight from one European city to another European city, Tauck handled all aspects, including seat selection based on my preferences, whether flying the same airline or not. Granted, I always book well in advance. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Rhonelover - If you already have reservations made by Tauck, you should have been given seat assignments based on your preferences. Maybe you can offer more information for a more definitive answer. Good luck to you.

  • Tauck making your flight arrangements and included flights on Tauck tours are two different things. If flights are included as part of Tauck's itinerary, Tauck takes care of seats.

  • On our first Tauck tour we booked economy flights with Tauck NYC - Paris round trip. Tauck gave seat assignments but warned in the paperwork that they couldn't guarantee them. All flights we've booked with them had the same warning. On both flights the airline changed our seats but they actually ended up better.

  • Rhonelover, I see what the above poster means. Are the flights you talk about part of a tour? If they are, you are not able to choose your seats, Tauck assigns them to you. They are usually basic economy seats.

  • I rarely book my air through Tauck anymore. They don't have access to all flights or all classes of service. I found better schedules and better prices doing it on my own.
