I've used both permethrin clothing spray and the topical skin spray on several trips. I found both effective.
You don’t have to but it’s a good idea. You can use a lot, so last time we did this we sprayed around the neck opening the sleeve and leg openings. Outside and wearing a mask as you really have to wet the clothing with it and it’s toxic until dry. We use Deet on our exposed skin and again washing hands after using it, keeping it away from mouth and eyes. Never spray this stuff near others inside a bus or vehicle, some people do!
Alan - You should have also worn a black helmet and black cape when you did this!
