Tauck docks ship next to loud night club. Unable to sleep for 2 nights of Seine Cruise.

Encountering a disturbing situation on current Rendezvous on the Seine river cruise. Second night now docked in Paris next to a riverboat restaurant/night club. Loud music literally shaking glass windows/doors blasting into our cabin from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m last night. Now exact same issue for second night. Tauck river boat team says there is nothing they can do about it. They have looked at moving the ship, but say it is not possible. So now 2nd night where we will get less than 4 hours sleep before waking up early for tours. This is not luxury. Poor planning on Tauck's part. Have lost much respect for the company.

  • I understand your frustration but it is not Tauck’s fault as they say. They have tried to move the ship but it’s crazy in Paris throughout the summer months

  • Strongly disagree. How can it not be their part in that planning is poor?

  • Is the nightclub river boat always there, if it is that’s not good. However I don’t think Tauck has a choice where to dock, they have to go where instructed

  • Boat is permanently there. Serious planning error.

  • Hey, didn’t you just get free GOT’s for your Bridges tour next year…..you can’t complain about that. We didn’t get it for our family of nine on our first Bridges tour and we’ve traveled with Tauck since 2003.

Tauck does not choose docking locations; those locations are assigned to them. Although your situation is unfortunate, unless another ‘slot’ opens up there is nothing Tauck can do.

With respect, complaining here is not going to mitigate the situation.

  • Both British and kfnknfzk are more than 200% correct. There isn’t anything to complain to this extreme length when docking assignments are out of their control. They haven’t dock where they are told to dock. It’s not as if any riverboat can dock where they would like! That would create another set of problems.

  • Bumper cars on the Seine!

For those who might be taking future river tours, you might enjoy visiting the captain in the wheelhouse (not sure if that is the correct terminology.) There is usually a sign-up sheet at the reception desk. You will learn a little about the “rules” of sailing the rivers and, yes, the very regulated docking protocols. We found it fascinating.

  • Thx edgee for the heads up. I will pack my super ear plugs. I am on that cruise in 2 weeks.

  • Not clear if Tauck has never parked in this trouble spot before or if they "rarely" have been there. For this problem being on the right side of the ship would hear less noise..

  • Wow that is not a fair situation. Maybe nothing can be done about the boat docking question, but if the nightclub is docked next to hundreds of people who are trying to sleep, then a stricter noise regulation should be imposed. Just to be fair. But nothing we can do about that either. I appreciate that edgee gave everyone a heads up.

  • I guess in France there are no noise rules.

  • No, British, there ARE noise rules, but they only apply in zoned residential neighborhoods. M.S. Spirit was docked in a zoned commercial neighborhood...therefore zero noise rules, we were told.
