1920's Night -Dressing up?

Are people dressing up for the 1920's night? I'm trying to decide...

We leave Thursday for Rendezvous on the Seine River Cruise - there is a 1920s party one night - we are only taking 1920s accessories we bought on Amazon to save luggage space & weight. So - not a whole outfit.
My husband got a men's accessory pack w/a hat, suspenders, arm elastic bands, a pocket watch, and bow tie - $15
    I bought a black fringe shawl w/gold sequins and a head band - $25

We are traveling with another couple and they are doing the same thing.

  • Terrilynn, you think very smart and wise for packing for a trip.

  • Same with accessories here. I'm lucky in that we used to participate in cowboy action shooting where you dress up (victorian/early 1900's) and we both have a fair number of accessories close enough to that era to work. There used to be a company called 1928 Jewelry that sold modestly priced reproduction jewelry. I have a couple of sets along with beaded wraps, etc. I am tempted by the elbow length gloves on Amazon. My husband has several fancy vests, garters, suspenders and a pocket watch.

  • Just returned from the tulip cruise. The 20's night was actually really fun. Dancing, poker.... Our tour directors did provide some accessories such as mustaches, beads, hats, long gloves...

  • I'm bringing a grey pinstripe suit, black dress shirt. Don't have a matching hat, but the combo looks very 20's. Still thinking about tie color.

  • I bought the accessory package in Amazon, $14.95 - earrings, head wear, beads and long gloves, just wearing nice slacks and blouse.

  • Do all tours have 1920's night? I don't remember seeing on our Rhine Connoisseur tour in June.

  • So far as I've seen yes they do. Look in your final documents. In ours there is a short paragraph in the Helpful Tips section just before the Clothing/Packing Suggestions.

As Claudia said - this is Tauck's 100th anniversary year, so we were told on our cruise last month that all the cruises this year will have a 1920s party. They do have accessories on a table for you to use if you don't want to bring your own. About 50% had 1920s accessories on our Seine cruise last month. Most of us bought our accessories on Amazon. There was mention of it in our paperwork we received via email.

  • This is what it says in our docs

Celebrate 100 Years of Tauck with a Roaring 1920s Party!

To celebrate Tauck's 100th year, we invite you to a 1920s-themed party in our Panorama Lounge
on one evening of the cruise (timing to be announced on board). Although by no means required,
we encourage you to bring along your best 1920s- themed wear, to party like it's 1925!

  • I just checked our docs for our Iceland trip in three weeks. There is no mention of a roaring twenties night.

  • I’m assuming it’s just on the river cruises. Our upcoming Norwegian Fiords cruise final paperwork makes no mention. Whether we will have an unannounced black and white themed evening which we had once, who knows.

  • Yes, I believe it's only river cruises which makes sense given the logistics like props, hotel staff to help with the party, and that it's an all Tauck guest composition.

  • We are going on the French Escapade cruise in July. I have a flapper dress and shawl and I bought some accessories on Amazon. I am rearranging what I am taking as I only take carryon. My husband is trying to decide what he should wear. I am excited about this event!

  • No mention of Roaring 20's night for our July Iceland trip.
