Re: Clothing @ Resorts
You will be so tired after two game drives that all you’ll want to do is eat dinner and go to bed. As many others have mentioned, it is very casual and no one notices what you wear day to day. Most times we went straight to dinner after washing up and didn’t change clothes. Did the K&T last September. Neutral colors, comfortable and layers as mornings and nights are cool.
Re: A funny thing happened on the way to the forum...
I had a lurker on one of my land tours and at dinner she mentioned that she knew me from the forum.
Re: clothing and Vancouver activities
We just were on the Rocky Mountaineer and Canadian Rockies tour. Most people wore pretty casual clothing for dinner. A few wore nicer slacks or a dress for dinner. Not many men wore sports coats.
Re: Clothing @ Resorts
Been to Africa I think nine times now. You do not need to dress up for dinner.

Re: Denver to Salt Lake City by Rocky Mountaineer
I’ve also been on The Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Lake Louise. Yes, there was a stop midway to sleep overnight at a hotel. It was a lovely train ride. The only one negative I would have to say is that I can’t sit that long for one time even though it’s on a spectacular train. Sometimes, we sat for well over 8 hours or more between stops. I also on the younger side of 72 so the sitting for that long did me in. It’s a great trip to do independently. We flew to Vancouver and explored Vancouver on our own. We checked in with the Rocky Mountaineer at the designated hotel. Afterward staying in Lake Louise, which is breathtaking, we hired a car and we stayed in Banff for a few days and explored that area which had more to do and sed than Lake Louise. Moraine Lake was still unaccessible at the time due yo snow and ice. Moraine Lake is supposed to be even more stunning than Lake Louise. We then hopped on an air porter to Calgary airport for the short flight home to California.
Re: Denver to Salt Lake City by Rocky Mountaineer
My wife and I took the Rocky Mountaineer from Denver to Moab in 2023. Not with Tauck, but in the Mountaineer’ Silver Leaf Plus service that I believe Tauck uses. It’s the highest level on that route. Wonderful trip. I assume the train crew would be RM’s people. They were outstanding! Some of the best service we ever had. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great journey. Can’t comment on other parts of the trip, but the train ride was so interesting, beautiful and relaxing.
Re: Denver to Salt Lake City by Rocky Mountaineer
I have taken the Rock Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff. Fantastic trip. I would highly recommend it. I have also taken the Amtrak California Zephyr, that follows the same route as the newly added Rocky Mountaineer between Moab and Denver. This is also a spectacular route for scenery. Based on both my previous experiences, I would expect the new Rocky Mountaineer to be well worth taking. My wife did not do the Amtrak trip with me because she dislikes sleeping on trains. However, the Mountaineer does not use sleeper cars. Instead, travelers spend a night in a hotel. So I am thinking of trying this new route of the Rocky Mountaineer in the future.
Re: Duffle Bag

We just received our duffle bags for our July 24 Great Migration trip.. Attached is a photo. They seem durable and water resistant. We plan to use a smaller duffle as our carry on for the flight and then pack it inside this one for the trip. There is plenty of room.

Re: On Riverboats what time is initial orientation meeting
I just returned from a river cruise, we embarked so late due to traffic that we did not have orientation until the next day, so it shows you that they are very flexible.
Re: Electronic Travel Authorization Requirement When Flying Through LHR
I obtained my UK ETA for an upcoming trip to England Scotland Wales. It’s super easy. All you need is the link that Tauck provides in your “Important Travel Information” section of your documents, a credit card for payment, your passport, And your mobile device. The link will install the app on your phone and lead you through a series of questions. It’s self explanatory. Cost was $22.50 US. The app converts the payment. I got my approval in less than 15 minutes.
