Re: 4 nites in Cape Town
We are taking this tour in September 2024. I’ve enjoyed the comments posted above. We will arrive in Cape Town 4 days early and plan to visit Robbin Island, the Holocaust museum and we will investigate Cape Fusion Tours. We may do Table Mountain on our own weather contingent. Also, we are not wine aficionados so winery visits are not high on our list. Walking around the waterfront is also very appealing. Other suggestions are welcome.
As for pants, I have some from both Columbia and Eddie Bauer, but my favorites are from Clothing Arts (online). They have numerous security pockets, are comfortable, don’t wrinkle when packed, I have 4 pair and love them.

I’m taking this trip next May. I hope you’ll add a review to the forum. Have a great time!
Re: Teeny Tiny Duffel for Namibia
Thanks, that sure doesn’t look like it can hold clothes for the entire journey. Think I’ll have to call and get some more details from Tauck.

Re: Dinner Dress on 100% Tauck Cruise?
I have only taken one Ponant cruise (all Tauck guests). I do not know if it was because of it being in the USA, but we experienced many travelers dressed as Sealord described above, whether on the boat or at venues for the welcome and farewell dinners. Being comfortable does not mean one has to show disrespect for the venue. Merely my opinion.

Re: Teeny Tiny Duffel for Namibia
That's a gym bag! maybe they are planning for us to become part of the Himba tribe.
Re: Dinner Dress on 100% Tauck Cruise?
Some Tauck guests never dress, so you should expect anything. We once went to a very elegant location in Malta for dinner, and one our number showed up wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and shower shoes. People who dress that way tend to sit at the same table. This was the location, once a hospital for the Kights Templar, and a picture of our table.

Re: Great Migration Tanzania/Kenya
We took this tour in 2018 and were 71 and 81. We were fine and in awe of everything we saw and did. There is almost no walking, but there are long early days with rides in comfortable vehicles over some very bumpy roads. The thrill of seeing animals up close in their natural environment cannot be compared to anything else you may have ever done. Yes, there are many vaccines to take, you can and should get an exemption for the yellow fever vaccines, but it is all worth it..
Depending on where you are traveling from it might be a good idea to arrive 1-2 days early and/or plan your flight from the US with an overnight stopover. We flew from San Francisco to Amsterdam and used Marriott miles for an overnight there. We arrived into Amsterdam early in the morning, checked in to our hotel and then had an entire day to explore that wonderful city. After a good night's sleep we arrived in Arusha refreshed and ready to explore for one day on our own before the Tauck trip started. We hired a private guide who took us the Arusha National Park for a great introduction to the Tauck safaris which would follow.
Go and have a wonderful trip.
Re: Malaria Medication South Africa Kruger & Vic Falls
Thank you for the replies. I have called Tauck & they don’t have “required” vaccines, but recommendations. We will probably go with the generic Malarone . Pricing varies all over the place, but much less thru Walmart Humana. See you there, Jan!

Re: Teeny Tiny Duffel for Namibia
Stellie, I like the duffel and think it is roomy enough for my needs. I do not, however, like the fact that it is too large for the airline’s overhead compartment. Since we do carry on only, we chose to put the duffel in a small roller carry on bag which we will then leave with Tauck in Windhoek after transferring our three safari shirts and three pairs of safari pants into the duffel. Should be fine. Being overweight is not cool when flying in those small bush planes. Enjoy your tour!
