Re: Accessibility for people with mobility scooters
jlrm Hi.
Look at the health considerations for this cruise Tauck specifically says they "cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters". The tour coaches aren't set up for this.
Re: Accessibility for people with mobility scooters
I believe some of the large cruise ships can accommodate scooters. Good luck!
Re: Accessibility for people with mobility scooters
Try Googling "European tours for people with mobility issues"
A poster on the Rick Steves website listed this one: (I know nothing about it) https://www.sagetraveling.com/ There were several other posts on Rick's site on this topic.
Here is an article on Conde Nast: https://www.cntraveler.com/story/tour-companies-dedicated-to-travelers-with-disabilities
You will likely find some companies that meet your needs, unfortunately, Tauck is not one of them.

Re: Accessibility for people with mobility scooters
I you look at the health considerations for this cruise Tauck specifically says they "cannot accommodate wheel chairs or motorized scooters". The tour coaches aren't set up for this. The ships do have elevators that go between the interior levels but can't go to the upper deck which is occasionally required to get on/off the ship. Getting on and off the ship is often a challenge. The gang plank is narrow and can be at steep angles and in some cases require steps to get to. I've seen all sorts of configurations. Often a challenge even for people with no walking issues.
I've been on cruises with people who had serious walking issues. They either spent most of the cruise on board or in one case the lady had 3 adults with her to help. The crew and TDs can't be expected to provide that sort of help. This is Europe which has completely different laws wrt disabilities. Many towns and tourist sights aren't built to accommodate them.
Re: Malaria Medication South Africa Kruger & Vic Falls
Hi, Stellie & GailP519! I would always defer to your physician but malaria is endemic in Kruger and Victoria Falls so we took Malarone and had no issues. We’ve taken it on multiple trips now - knock on wood, no side effects. I’d recommend taking it in the AM. Doxycycline is sometimes prescribed too if there are contraindications with other medications. With Malarone, you start 1-2 days before arriving in the endemic area and then you take it for seven days following departure from that area. With doxycycline, you have to continue taking it for about a month after leaving the endemic area. I do believe there tends to be fewer side effects with Doxy, but sun sensitivity is one of them. So you have to be vigilant with the sunscreen!
Re: What type electric outlets in British Air lounges at LHR?
Not paranoid at all, MikeHenderson, but rightfully cautious and very astute. I do the same thing.

Re: Rccent experience on this tour?
rick729 - I have not been to the Palace, but in my opinion I think you would have a nicer time exploring Stockholm. Consider taking a cruise around the islands the city is built upon. Although Tauck will take you to old town, there is much to see and it is worth going there. If a fan of their music, there is also the ABBA museum.

Re: Rccent experience on this tour?
I took this tour in 2022, we flew from Stockholm to Denmark but I believe they went back to the bus for that. It's a lovely trip, scenery in Norway is amazing and Oslo offers many museums and sights. We also had dinner at Cornelius, it was a great experience.
Stockholm Old Town is a place to explore.
Re: 4 nites in Cape Town
We are taking this tour in September 2024. I’ve enjoyed the comments posted above. We will arrive in Cape Town 4 days early and plan to visit Robbin Island, the Holocaust museum and we will investigate Cape Fusion Tours. We may do Table Mountain on our own weather contingent. Also, we are not wine aficionados so winery visits are not high on our list. Walking around the waterfront is also very appealing. Other suggestions are welcome.
As for pants, I have some from both Columbia and Eddie Bauer, but my favorites are from Clothing Arts (online). They have numerous security pockets, are comfortable, don’t wrinkle when packed, I have 4 pair and love them.
