Re: Suggestions for Barcelona/Madrid
British must be Very Tired as the Mona Lisa is in the Louvre in Paris.
But do try and see the Guernica at the
Reina Sofia in Madrid.
Re: Capetown Restaurants
I know a waitress who is from Cape Town and has been our server twice at a Del Frisco's here in TN. She highly recommends Willoughby's which is at the Waterfront for great seafood. For those who love formal high tea, the Mount Nelson hotel has the best one in Cape Town.
Re: Suggestions for Barcelona/Madrid
Ah, British is correct! While “the” Mona Lisa is in the Louvre there is a beautiful, startling Mona Lisa in the Prado. The Prado should not be missed. It is huge but you can see the masterpieces in 2 hours if you have the right guide. And the cafeteria and gift shops are top notch.
Re: dinner venue
At Many Glacier hotel, we ate dinner in the Ptarmigan Dining Room. It was crowded the night that we stayed (it was a weekend) so there was a wait. However, it moved fairly fast. There is an area near the dining room where you can sit, have a drink, and view the lake. At Lake McDonald Lodge, we ate in Russell's Fireside Dining Room. The lodge is much smaller than Many Glacier. After we settled in our room, we went to the dining room to see if we needed a reservation. However, we really did not need a reservation because they had an available table. In both places, the food was excellent and they had plenty of servers. Dress is casual in both dining rooms.
I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip. Our trip far exceeded our expectations.
Re: Suggestions for Barcelona/Madrid
Having recently come through COVID and with respect to tourism (or over-tourism), much of Europe and other top tourist destinations, e.g. Machu Picchuy, etc. now fall in the "be careful what you wish for" category!

Re: Suggestions for Barcelona/Madrid
To anyone who travels to Madrid, we highly recommend taking in the dinner Flamenco show at Corral De La Moreria. This was beyond words. Two highly skilled dancers performing true Flamenco, and the food was incredible. Well worth it if you have a free night.
Re: Kingdom and Dragons…first trip in 2023
I didn't use any cooling items on this trip, it actually wasn't bad when I went which was a couple of weeks before Mil.

Re: Herculaneum Sept. 2, 2018
I used driverinitaly in 2022 and they were still owned by Roberto. However, he had another person that I emailed with emailed with and he set up my day in Herculaneum. It all worked out great. Please look and make sure all the museums are open the day you want to go. I was able to see Herculaneum which was fantastic and very different than Pompeii..
