Re: South Africa an Elegant Adventure Review
John. We stayed in a different hotel In Johannesburg, it was in the middle of an upscale shopping center.
I assume that as SA has such a high rate of Covid, that just like here, staffing is an issue. Couldn’t you eat in the hotel? What did other people do? After about three days on a tour, we get overwhelmed by all the food, even though we love food. We sometimes skip on our own dinners for a light snack or for extra time to site see. We also often eat at the hotel instead of out at a restaurant for convenience.
It’s funny how we all like different things. The Victoria Falls hotel, some people on our did not like it and complained. For is it was such an examples of the colonial period down to the afternoon tea on the veranda. I thinkTauck have changed it to a different hotel next year.

Re: Small group tours in Paris
For food tour Devour Tours offers.several. They are the company Tauck uses for tapas tours in Madrid. Viator also has lots to choose from. You might get an updated Rick Steves Paris Pocket guide and see what his recommendations are..
Re: Switzerland: Europe's Crown Jewel, September 10-20, 2023 Trip Report
Hello Mike
We just got home from our Switzerland Crown Jewel trip last night. We loved it ! We were very fortunate with the rain. Didn’t have much.
We enjoyed Zermatt and Luzern a lot. We stayed 3 extra days in Luzern. Our favorite city ! We did stay in Grindelwald instead of Interlaken. The Schweizerhof Grindelwald. We loved it. So charming. Unfortunately we didn’t get to go on the Glacier Express. We went on a two hour local train. Made for a very long day on the bus. All in all it was a great trip ! So glad we did it.
Re: Switzerland: Europe's Crown Jewel, September 10-20, 2023 Trip Report
Hi Naturally Unique - we are on the July 15 tour and it also subs Grindelwald instead of Interlaken. I would love any tips on your 2 nights there and recommendations in what looks like a charming town. Was there any time spent in Interlaken to walk around; or just to take the funicular up for dinner? We also received advance notice from Tauck that they were unable to secure Glacier Express tickets and have altered the itinerary. How much time did you spend on the bus that day (per your reference that it was long); also, how was the added cheese tour? Thanks so much for your insight and thanks to all who have shared their valuable recaps and advice.
Re: Grand Australia and NZ--days 9 and 15
If you have time for a tour of the Blue Mountains then you might consider a seaplane tour of the greater Sydney area as an alternative. We did it. In addition to flying over Sydney proper (opera house, bridge, etc.) it takes you up north along the eastern shore into the national park where we landed, had lunch at the Cottage Point Inn, and then did the return trip. The seaplane port was near Bondi Beach. It was our first seaplane trip and we loved it.

Check out paris-walks.com. I've done several walking tours with them. They are a sister company of London Walks.

I'm on team rain jacket with hood for the reasons cited plus umbrellas are worse then useless if its windy.
