New Tauck Freebie

First there was the packing cubes (we got that one). Then the wallet with Euros (didn't get that one). Now Tauck is sending out toiletry bags. We got two today (one for each of us. They measure 8x10x3 with a strap for hanging and lots of mesh pockets on the flap and inside. Nice! Thank you, Tauck!

That's nice. I'm going on a Tauck tour in January so maybe I'll get one, also. I note they're OD green - just in case you're going to a (non-desert) war zone:-)

  • We probably won’t get one but never found the hanging ones practical.

  • Nice. We use a similar one that we got at LL Bean. Hanging it on a towel rack or similar item in the bathroom keeps our toiletries organized and saves counter space.

  • I have never used a hanging toiletry bag. I mostly get ready by sticking a 7” suction cupped mirror on a window for better lighting to apply makeup. Most of the time, bathroom lighting is awful. I do put in my contact lenses in the bathroom.

  • We've been on at least 4 or 5 Tauck Tours and have never received anything. However, we do take advantage of the "Gift of Time".

Yes, that's a really useful gift. Always appreciated.

  • I have a Tauck tour coming up in late January. I received two packing cubes as gifts. Much appreciated.

  • We just received the packing cubes, too.

  • Tis the season to be Tauck-y. Fa la la la la....

  • Haven't rcvd anything :( !

  • Same here! Still waiting......

  • Have you been naughty or nice?!😉

  • Tauck operates in mysterious ways. We have not ever gotten any gifts. But, we once arrived at the airport to discover we had ‘special’ transport waiting and the driver had a sign with our name on it. All the others arriving at that time were transported in two vans. When we presented our passports at the hotel the receptionist said, “Have I got a room for you!”. It was amazing! We ‘accused’ the TD of having something to do with it, but he did not even arrive until the next day. We have no idea why that happened but the TD said it was not a ‘random’ event.

  • OK -- I wasn't going to mention this...but ...I just got MORE Tauck compression packing cubes! My second gift of them. I have 3 trips booked with Tauck for 2024 (and, so, far, 1 for 2025). I've taken 15 tours, which is many fewer than some people on this forum have taken. Maybe it has something to do with where the next tour is going. (Mine is going to Morocco.) I'm not complaining.

  • You must have been very nice … and you are probably not from Malibu. (;-)

  • I have 3 trips booked for 2024 and got the second set. Maybe that's the secret sauce...

  • Maybe if Tauck stopped giving these gifts, they might not have to ‘Up’ the single supplement prices so much mentioned on another thread.

  • I'd be happy to give up the single supplement in lieu of the packing cubes!

Either I didn't read that thread or you're conflating it with the discussion, in a recent thread, about A&K's high single supplement.

  • Single supplement is a lot more costly than packing cubes.

  • BKMD, Mil reported that the Tauck Namibia single price had gone up by $2000 and someone else’s that the Singapore Bali trip had a similar increase in 2025

  • Thanks, British. I don't usually read threads about areas that don't interest me, so I missed those.

It's actually the entire trip, not only the single supplement.

  • I don’t know exactly why since I’m not an economist, but the price of almost everything has gone up significantly in the last few years. The good news: the price of Dungeness crab is lower than it has been for several years. Tauck made ‘no money’ for a couple years due to the pandemic, but a couple years worth of tours had already been sold at pre “pandemic” prices. I’m sure the Tauck coffers were severely drained. It is my understanding that they kept all their permanent employees on payroll for the duration. Try to book a tour on your own with the same excursions and see what you come up with. Or compare Tauck to say A&F, then make a decision. It is all about shopping and value. Do you want Macy’s or Nordstroms?

  • Sealord:even all of the department have significantly lowered the quality of their merchandise. Nordstrom is not what it once was which was a fine regal store snd a pleasure to shop in. Not so much any more. In fact, I would love to find a store with high standards where salespeople aren’t staring at their cell phone with good quality merchandise where a simple cotton t-shirt doesn’t cost 100.00 bucks.

  • Ah, so the difference is, I don’t shop at Nordstrum, my son does. Maybe that’s why I can travel so much.

  • or compare Tauck to say A&F, then make a decision. It is all about shopping and value. Do you want Macy’s or Nordstroms?

    I choose Bergdorf’s….thank you :)

  • When I was in Cairo and my luggage was lost, I made a trip to Cairo Mall (via Uber) to buy some clothes. I went to a Marks &Spencer where a young woman, who spoke English, provided impeccable service. Unfortunately, the quality of the clothes turned out to be poor. I bought some M&S branded shirts that either shrunk down to nothing or developed holes in them within a few months after getting home.

  • We have a good Nordstroms where I live. Our dog Buffy shops there all the time, and drags my wife in with her. She loves the place.
