Timing for Meals on Our Own - Sept 19 Journey

Hey gang . . .

I've been reviewing the detailed itinerary with an eye on making meal reservations in advance, but before I do so, I'd like to see if anyone can provide some more insight:

  • On Day 2 (Singapore), the itinerary says the evening is on our own: so an 8 p.m. dinner reservation is OK? That is, we'd be "done" by then?
  • Day 3 (Singapore), "afternoon and evening are at leisure"; is a lunch reservation at 1 p.m. OK? That is, we'd be "done" by then?
  • Day 7 (Bali), the itinerary says BOTH that Dinner is included AND "Enjoy dinner at your leisure": I'm assuming this means that dinner is included at the hotel, or is there an error in the itinerary?
  • Day 8 (Bali), "dinner on your own at your leisure": would we be finished up in time for a 7 or 8 p.m. reservation?
  • Day 12 (Bali) - same as day 8 - "dinner on your own at your leisure": would we be finished up in time for a 7 or 8 p.m. reservation?

    FredWeiss - You are correct with the itinerary.
    Day 2 at 8 pm works fine.

    Day 3 at 1 pm might be pushing it. We had a morning excursion with an optional afternoon excursion. The afternoon was a tour that our local guide offered (extra fee) and he included visiting the Hawkers stalls in Chinatown with plenty of food. We did lunch on our own at on of the tour directors recommendations called Holy Crab. It was delicious and no reservation required. Most lunch restaurants didn't require a lunch reservation, even at the Raffles Hotel.

    In Bali, dinner was included at the hotel, but not as a whole group. You can dine alone or choose to dine with other travelers. Your tour directer will make you reservations for you. It may be a little more difficult to eat at other restaurants than the hotel as there isn't anything walkable. You can hire a ride, but traffic is really busy to get into town, so plan for that. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip! It was one of our favorites!

    Your 2nd stay in Bali, except for the final dinner, they are not included. The restaurants at the hotel are excellent and you can walk down the beach also and have dinner or lunches at the many restaurants there. Some on our tour did that and said they had good meals!
