Petra dinner at local family residence

We are leaving in December 2023. Looking at the itinerary, we are given several options for the first night dinner at Petra. One of them is to dine with a local family at their residence. Have anyone took this option? Your thoughts? Do we need to make arrangement for that ahead of time?

Tauck will handle all arrangements. I don't remember if we originally had to choose before our 2022 tour (if so Tauck would have sent us an email with a respond NLT date) or if we were supposed to choose sometime on Day 1 or Day 2. In any case it was cancelled- too soon after COVID. We wouldn't have chosen it anyway. We toured the small but very nice Petra museum after arriving in Abu Musa and before dinner at the hotel. In any case, like with most Tauck options, you can change your mind after the start of the tour.
