Difference between privately guided Vatican and Uffizi tours and after-hours access?
My husband and I have booked a small group tour of Venice, Florence and Rome for October 2026, but we're wondering why Tauck will be giving us "privately guided" tours of the Uffizi Gallery and Vatican instead of the "after hours" tours that are offered on other Italy excursions. To us, this implies we'll be joining the throngs with a guide, but won't have any kind of exclusive after hours access. Can anybody comment on their experience with this? Many thanks!

Why not call Tauck and ask them?
It could be a scheduling conflict. Although the after-hours tours are always preferable, we have enjoyed the guided tours during regular hours. I wouldn’t be concerned with throngs of people. The docents/guides know how to maneuver through them. Frequently, each room is limited to the amount of people that can be in them at any given time.
I did call them. The agent didn’t have an answer for me and told me to check back closer to the date.
