Antarctica - January 24, 2027 - FLIGHT Question
Hi All! I just booked Antarctica for Jan 2027 and am looking at flights. I am looking at Delta and would fly from Boston with a 3hr44min layover in Miami. My question is for the return flight home from Buenos Aires to Boston. The best option would be to return via JFK and the 2 layover options are either 2hr29mins or 5hrs. Could I make my connection in 2.5 hrs?? I have never been to the JFK airport or connected through there. Also, I would be in business class. Thanks so much!!!

In my opinion two and a half hours is plenty of time to connect in New York. My personal minimum is an hour and a half.
Great!! I was hoping to hear that as I’d prefer to get in and get out!! Thanks so much!
Having Global Entry to re-enter the US is extremely helpful, especially during these challenging times!
Yes…I also have that, too! Thanks!
I'm generally conservative and would take the longer wait time. You will need to go through customs and immigration in NY. JFK is a very large airport. It's probable that you will need to change terminals and they're not walkable as in Boston. You are also in prime snow season in both NYC and Boston. If you miss the connection, it's likely that they will be able to get you on a later flight as long as you arrive early in the day. You need to determine what risk you will take.
It might not be practical in this situation, but JFK has an Air Train that stops at all terminals and connects to public transportation hubs in NYC. You can take it to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) hub then on to Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal for subsequent travel to Boston. I have taken it many times when my final destination is Long Island.
There is now a high speed train out of Penn Station to Boston, but I have no details on that.
Thank you Both! I did opt for the longer layover. I wanted to return thru Miami, but the price and wait times made JFK a better option. I figured if there were any weather issues at least, I could get stuck in Miami. :-)
I did think of the train as a back up just in case of Snow, so that is a definite option as well.
