Egypt and Jordan Tour

We are going on the April 9th Egypt and Jordan Tour and are wondering about the weather and what clothes to take.
Since I am always cold, I want to take something to keep me warm at night (sound and light show) and evenings on the Nile. Also, how much colder is Jordan. Any suggestions?

    Hello Patricia,

The average temperature in Egypt and Jordan in April is as follows:

    Cairo- average temps 82-59
    Luxor- average temps 93 -65
    Amman- average temps 73-48

You can check www.weather.com for up to date weather forecasts.

The more populated areas of Egypt such as Cairo and Giza are quite dusty. The air quality is far poorer than what most guests are accustomed to. You may want to bring eye drops such as Visine for the dusty (if not polluted) air, especially if you wear contact lenses. Also, clothing which might bedamaged by dusty streets and rough terrain such as nice shoes or ground-skimming pantsand skirts are not recommended.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack:
    - Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes, closed-toe to avoid dirt and sand getting inside
    - Light jacket or windbreaker in summer and warm coat for winter
    - Short and long-sleeved shirts - Shorts and pants for casual daytime wear
    - Jacket and tie (optional) for men and slacks/dress for women for evening wear
    - Sweater, lightweight for summer, and medium weight for winter/fall
    - Camera, lenses, batteries, recharger for camera (220 Volt, 50 AC) and extra memory cards
    - Gym wear for use in hotel fitness centers, and bathing suit for pools
    - Washcloth (not all hotels provide washcloths, so you may want to bring one) or a package
of Handi Wipes (which can be a good substitute for a washcloth)
    - Prescription medicines (adequate supply to last through your journey; refilling these can be
difficult and time-consuming; however a written prescription from one's doctor can facilitate
    refills if necessary)
    - Handi Wipes or antiseptic cleaner
    - Eye drops such as Visine for dry dusty eyes
    - Hat (preferably wide-brimmed for best protection from the sun)
    - Sunscreen/sunblock - Sunglasses - Insect repellent - Scarf or shawl for women
We recommend that you pack your prescription medicines (an adequate supply to last through
your journey) along with your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bags

    Hope the helps,
    Emily
