Inconsistent Log In

Why is it that sometimes I need to go through the whole process of logging in (email address, password) and at other times, I am automatically logged in. I checked the "Remember Me" box; however, it does not seem to make any difference. "Cruise Critic" "remembers me" for months and years; i.e., no need to repeat email address and password evey other time/log in. Why the inconsistency????????????
