January 10, 2020 Tour-Pre-trip visit to Halong Bay
Is anyone who is going on this January 10, 2020 tour who is arriving in Hanoi early interested in joining us in a pre-tour visit to Halong Bay, which is not included in the tour. With the opening of a new highway, the traveling time from Hanoi to Halong Bay is now only about 2 hours, rather than the previous 3 1/2 to 4 hour one way trip.

We went on this trip a few years ago and it was great. If you are in fact arriving one day early, with the welcome dinner the next day you should consider taking a 1-night boat tour of Halong Bay. Sunrise on the bay is beautiful, and you will have the time to explore the floating village and the caves. You arrive in Halong Bay in the early afternoon, you get to experience a beautiful night on the water, breakfast on board and leave the boat after a late morning brunch. Even before the super highway was opened we had more than enough time to stay overnight and return with plenty of time to spare in order to get ready for our welcome dinner.We went with Princess cruises (I think) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
