Casual Attire

Since this is a more active trip, is the dress usually casual? Do men need sports jacket for some evening dinners?

  • Normally, I advise people going to Italy to take a jacket. Italians tend to dress well when going to a nice restaurant. On this tour there are three on-tour dinners, all of which I would say you could get by without a jacket. The first night's dinner is in a cellar restaurant that is pretty casual. The second is at a nice hotel restaurant. but in a resort area. The final dinner is just Tauck people in a private room, so those are the only people who will judge you. However, if you plan to got to any nicer restaurants on your own, you may want a jacket, just to fit in. I think I wore a jacket to all three dinners on this tour.

In general, I've never seen anyone on a Tauck tour turned away from an on-tour restaurant for being under dressed. I have however noted some situations on other tours where I thought those without jackets were out of place.
