Sailing on Le Ponant - what clothes to take ... Malta to Monte Carlo June

Hi,

For those travellers who have sailed on Le Ponant in June can you let me know what type of clothes I should take? Was it chilly in the evening on board?

Ditto the question to others ... or our fearless Tauck Moderator.

Follow-on questions: some Tauk tours have a more formal evening attire requirements ... as can large cruise ships (to be comfortable). This is our first small ship trip and we don't want to over pack, but know that European evening attire is generally more formal that in th USA.

    Thanks for any advice.

We did this tour a couple of years ago. You are in for a wonderful experience.

Regarding clothing. Weather was very warm, dress attire country club casual.

Keep in mind the cabins are small and you are very limited to space. All suitcases are taken away and stored in the ship somewhere. Men did wear a jacket on at least one evening.

    Hi Tiger Dad,

Select a comfortable wardrobe that you can layer. It is generally breezy at sea and it gets cool at night. Those who enjoy evenings on deck may need a cardigan or a
windbreaker. During the day casual, comfortable clothing is recommended. Typically, restaurants request that gentlemen wear a jacket for dinner. A jacket and tie are recomended for gentlemen who wish to visit the Casino Monte Carlo in the evening.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily

We traveled last year in October so the weather was probably cooler. On board the ship, the men and women did tend to dress for dinner. There is also a Captain's dinner that everyone dressed up for. I generally bring along two pairs of dress slacks (black and white) and then change the tops and accessories so that I don't look like I have the same thing on every night. It worked out quite well. I did bring a nice dress along for the Captain's dinner, but that was the only night I wore it.

You should definitely bring along a jacket and/or sweater for the cooler nights. It can get quite breezy on deck.

It's a wonderful trip. Have a great time!!
