Tauck River Cruise question
Prior to Covid we had a travel plan across several years. We were going to NZ in October 2020 with Tauck. We planned and booked an independent spring 2021 Utah trip (on our own). When I was working on all these plans I thought NZ would happen this fall.
I backed up next year by booking a Tauck river cruise in the Fall 2021. Not really what we wanted but I was worried about the locusts and possibly continued Covid in Africa.
So, NZ is cancelled this Fall. I would like to rebook it for next Fall 2021, which I can do. My problem is that an agent has told me that river cruises have different cancellation policies. I can cancel it, but our deposit would be returned but not the insurance. Nothing from that booking insurance or deposit can be applied to a future booking.
Anyone have experience with this? Truthfully, we just scheduled the river cruise as a place holder. Now that this entire year is no-travel, I would prefer to book a real visit on land Fall 2021.
Thanks for any of your thoughts/knowledge about this situation.
