Week in Ireland - May 23
Has anyone opted for a private tour outside of Tauck's tour? We will be within 20 miles of mother's ancestral home when in Glendalough. Thinking of hiring a cab to take us south to Avoca to see the homeland and then getting back to Dublin for the farewell dinner. Will Tauck permit this and have any of you done anything like this?

You can always choose to do things on your own. If you're skipping a part of the tour, be sure to let the TD know so they won't wait for you. You may wish to check with the hotel concierge regarding hiring a driver.
Thanks. Started looking at cab companies. Thinking may want to book prior to arriving in Ireland to avoid any snafus.
I know on most trips we've taken we've peeled off from the group here & there to do our own thing. When we did their Week in London & Paris we skipped what they had planned for one day in Paris & headed to the Normandy landing beaches instead. We always make sure to let our TD know where we're going & when we'll be back.
But just to make sure it's ok I'd call Tauck & run it by them. Also, make sure you let your Tauck Director know of your plans. Enjoy your trip, it's a great itinerary!
