Rica Jungles & Rainforests: Cameras

In my previous note I forgot to mention cameras. I took my Canon S-100 pocket camera, which is a very good pocket camera with a 5x zoom. The problem was that when shooting wildlife on the boat tours it didn't have a long enough zoom range. Even something as large as a crocodile was lost in the frame, and birds and monkeys in the trees were even worse. What I should have taken is my Canon S-3 IS, which is a super zoom camera. They don't make the S-3 now, but it's been replaced by the Canon PowerShot SX40 which looks even better. Nikon and other companies make superzooms too. Of course a DSLR with a long lens would produce great photos, but the weight and inconvenience would rule it out for me.
