Backstreet Jeep Tour in Hanoi

Hello! Did anyone here go on the Soviet Jeep Tour in Hanoi with Hanoi Backstreet Tours? If so, did you go on the Hanoi Highlights & Hidden Gems Tour, or the Food + Culture + Fun Tour? Was there any repetition of sights/activities with the Tauck tour or did you see/do different things with Backstreet? Thanks in advance! 😀

  • Hi BV. This is the backstreet jeep tour that we did, arranged by the concierge at the Metropole:

It was very interesting and a lot of fun. There were not any overlaps with the areas that Tauck took us to. We went to the train street, walked through back alleys where we saw people cooking their dinners on small burners outside their door, a local beer brewery, a family owned restaurant, a coffee shop where all of the furnishings were made of recycled machines and plastics, and went to a really interesting “ black “ market ( more like a wet market with farm produce and animals). We did this in lieu of a water puppet show that Tauck was taking us to. We were there in late January, so it was chilly and we needed coats.

    Have a great time!

  • Hi, MotherOfPoodles! Thank you ever so much for your reply! So it sounds like you did the Food + Culture + Fun tour? That is very helpful! We wanted to make sure we weren’t duplicating any of the stops so it’s great to hear the sights are different from what Tauck will show us. BTW, I love poodles. 🐩 😉 (Used to have them.)
