Hotel Lutetia Paris
We are taking Tauck's Rendezvous on the Siene in September and staying one night before the cruise at the Hotel Lutetia in Paris through Tauck. We are wondering if the breakfast at the hotel is included.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes - if you booked through Tauck, it is included. We did this trip in May and it was so good. Excellent breakfast too - a nice buffet and menu - get the crepes. They will ask your room number when you arrive in the restaurant and we did have to sign the bill - but NO charges.
As long as you stay in Tauck’s designated hotel for your pre/post tour stay, breakfast is included. When checking into the hotel, be sure to tell them you are with Tauck—have your reservation handy. They will tell you which restaurant to go to for breakfast should there be more than one in the hotel.
Helpful hint - I always settle the bill the night before checking out in order to avoid possible gridlock in the morning. Even if you did not charge anything to your room, it is always wise to confirm the $0.00 balance.
Enjoy your trip.
You will be staying at a hotel with history. I was in Paris on my own in June (not staying at the Lutetia) and learned, while doing a walking tour that focused on the Resistance, that during WW II, that hotel was the headquarters of the Abwehr, and was later used as a repatriation center for POWs. When I walked by the hotel, I met a group of fans who were hoping to catch a glimpse of Miley Cyrus, who was staying there.
MCD - I remember you like history so you might already know this… The leader of the Abwehr, who opposed the Nazi regime, gave Denmark advance notice of the impending invasion so they could prepare. It gave the Danes some time to move Jews to neutral Sweden. My father, and many others, were part of the resistance movement in København.
The advanced notice to the Danes was given by Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz, a German diplomat who opposed the Nazi regime.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg_Ferdinand_Duckwitz Also,
In 1943 Admiral Wilhelm Canaris was head of the Abwehr. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Canaris
Canaris did oppose the Nazi regime, and was executed for his opposition in 1945, but there's no indication he notified the Danes.
How interesting! I had no idea that the head of the Abwehr had opposed the Nazi regime. Thank you, kfnknfzk and Mike. (Kfnknfzk--Would you please message me.)
Canaria was arrested in 1944 on suspicion of having participated in the attempt on Hitler’s life.
Truly astonishing is all I will say. Canaris did indeed warn Danish officials of the impending attack. It was Duckwitz who alerted the Danes that the Nazis were planning to round up Jews. The underground resistance movement was already well underway by then. I think I know a bit about my father’s legacy. And I certainly know better than to get historical information from YouTube videos.
MCD - I will send you a note later today or tomorrow.
There is nothing in the written history to indicate that Canaris warned Danish officials of the impending attack. In fact, if you search "Did Canaris warn the Danes about the roundup of the Danish Jews" you will get a response that says he did not.
If you have some documentation of his warning to the Danes, please give a link to it.
Yad Vashem recognizes Duckwitz, not Canaris, for saving the Danish Jews. If Canaris had been responsible for their saving he certainly would have been recognized.
[Duckwitz learned of the roundup on September 11, 1943 from Werner Best of the Gestapo (the roundup was to take place on October 1st so Duckwitz had time to warn the Danes). He did not get advanced notice from Canaris. In most likelyhood, Canaris probably didn't even know who Duckwitz was. Additionally, there is no indication that the Danes, or the Jews, received any notification other than from Duckwitz.
In all likelyhood, Canaris didn't even know about the plan to round up the Danish Jews. The responsibility for it did not fall into his area and when you're planning something like the roundup, you only tell those with a "need to know".]
My G-d, astonishing misinformation. Invasion and rounding up Jews were two different events. Believe your YouTube cartoons and conspiracy theories. I will not respond to such ignorance and self-aggrandizement. Next will probably come the complete denial of all such WWII events.
When you visit the Danish Resistance Museum, please give them a copy of everything I've written here and ask them if any of it is incorrect. You may be surprised.
Not to butt into this "discussion" on who did what ......According the several websites, it was Canaris who warned the Danes. This particular quote is from Wikipedia article titled German Invasion of Denmark 1940
"On 4 April, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, chief of the Abwehr and involved in the German resistance to Nazism, warned the Danes of an imminent invasion.[13]" That information was from the book -- Axelrod, Alan (2008). The Real History of World War II: A New Look at the Past. Sterling Publishing Company, Inc. ISBN 9781402740909.
It is possible that more than one person warned the Danes thus the confusion.
You're correct that Canaris warned the Danes in 1940 that Germany was going to invade Demark. The question I was addressing is who warned the Danes and the Jews when the Germans planned to round up all the Jews in Denmark in 1943. That was Duckwitz.
Yes, you are correct Birder49. I trust you have been well.
I apologize to all for digressing on this thread; there are times, however, when I must speak up, especially when it comes to the memory of my father and his efforts to save his family and the lives of complete strangers.
It was interesting that there was finally admission to the truth about Canaris but then “poof” the post was removed.
Now I am told to tell the museum—one I have supported for decades—that they are wrong. The audacity is frightening.
The current regime’s reach will surely expand. Yes, the aforementioned sentence is very political, but I simply can’t apologize.
It just seems reasonable to understand the facts from someone that was there at the time, boots on the ground, instead of Wikipedia, You-tubes, Google, TikTok, etc. Even they can be wrong. Remember that history gets written from the perspective and point id view from who is telling it. In this case Kfnknfzk’s father was right there. I have heard so many misguided facts of WW2 that it could make your head spin. My father was also there and but he was in an orphanage with his brother in the outskirts of Berlin. Rest in eternal peace Dad.
