President Obama visits Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown

I am astounded at the negative comments of posts on the forums about Tauck's announcement that President Obama visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Politics aside, he is our PRESIDENT, and his visit there highlighted an aspect of one of Tauck's wonderful tours. How could that possibly affect one's decision as to whether to travel there, or with Tauck?! Such narrowmindedness puzzles me.

  • I don't know what comments you are referring to, Linda, since I can't find them. I've been visiting the States regularly for the past nine years or so and as an Australian I find the Office of the President, whoever the incumbent may be, is most curious. And endlessly fascinating. I do find, however, some of the associated dogma to be quiet peculiar. I am constantly fascinated by history, so even though I don't know a lot about the history of baseball, I think I'd really enjoy visiting the Hall of Fame. I hope Tauck keep this event on their calendar. It's an engrossing sport and so entwined with the history of modern America. As far as I know, baseball is still a sport. Just a sport. I'm sure there are many who care nothing for the game and who know and care even less about history.

Lest my use of the English language confound, a visit to the pages of the OED might be reassuring.
  • The people that dislike this particular president are very vocal. I don't remember people disliking the last president being as vocal at work. With change comes a lot of worry and controversy.

Myself I don't understand politics and don't follow it much. Only history will tell if the changes work out. In a few years there will be another in office for the other half to dislike probably.
  • I can't find the comments either. Linda, where did you see them? Thanks!

I would guess they have been deleted.
  • I will try to find the comments - saw them yesterday on one of the forum posts - I do find all the various forum categories a bit confusing and difficult to navigate and reply.
