Travel to Thailand September 2014 Safety Issues

We are scheduled to travel to Thailand as part of our Tauck tour this September 2014. The US State Department and others warns of the safety issues due to the political problems/unrest and recommends all non-easential travel to Thailand be cancelled. We would love comments and/or concerns from others going on this trip.

That's interesting. Your State Department hasn't changed their Travel Alert since 23rd May, 2014. Ours was moved down to High Degree of Caution on 9th June and reiterated today. My point is that things always have been, and will continue to be, fluid in Thailand. It's quite a while between now and your September trip and particularly in Thailand, anything can happen in the intervening time. Tauck will be in touch with you directly if there are changes to your trip, but my guess is that would be much closer to September.

If you need some comfort information, call Tauck directly. Keep in mind, though, Tauck can't see into the future any more than you can!

    Cheers,

  • Going to Bangkok/ Myanmar next month. Just got an email from a family member in Bangkok who say "there are no disturbances in Bangkok - safe to travel. Tourist sites are perfectly safe ". This matches what the Canadian government says on it web site. You just have to cautious while travelling around as usual in these counties. He also says do not flash money or expensive jewelry.
