Travel Insurance
Some of you may be wondering whether to buy travel insurance. My wife and I did buy it and we got on the plane going to Europe, got off the plane and checked into the hotel, and then my wife became too ill to travel. We cancelled , in other words, on the day before we were to get on the boat. Somebody, maybe Tauck, maybe AAA, paid to fly us home on an emergency basis. That was $13,000. I'm happy to say that Tauck reimbursed us in full for the cost of our tickets. My only complaint is that we could have saved a bundle if the airline booked for our return flight had been notified. We bought our tickets through Tauck and expected them to take care of that detail. It was certainly the last thing on my mind at that point. Perhaps Tauck should make that a part of their list of things to do when somebody has to cancel their trip. But, all in all, we are very glad we bought that insurance and very pleased with Tauck.
