Post cruise trip

Thinking of going to Brussels and Bruges after Seine cruise. Has anyone done this? Thoughts on a better trip?
Perhaps 4-5 days. Thanks

  • I've been both places, though not as an extension of a Paris trip. Should be a good choice though. Beautiful architecture and the best beer and chocolate in the world. The mussels and french fries (Belgian frites) are great as well). Four days should be about right. A full day of sightseeing would cover most of each city. Add in travel time and four days would be about right.

Another option would be to visit the Loire valley. Breathtaking chateau and great wineries. Getting around is a bit more of a challenge there. You might want to hire a driver or check into excursions, if you head there.
  • After our Romantic Rhine riverboat trip in April 2015, we took train from Amsterdam via Antwerp to Bruges. Easy station to navigate, skipped Brussels for 2 nites in Bruges at Hotel Orangerie, great location, restaurants, beer. Easy walking city, market day, carillon concert/free, canal ride. Changed trains in Antwerp for Paris on TGV.

If you've not seen much of France, do go somewhere else within the country after the cruise, so easy by train ! We were away for 27 days, per person a 21" on wheels plus small shoulder carry on, but we knew at our destination east of Bordeaux in the village of Duras there was a washer/drier combo !

We did the Seine cruise in 2014, marvelous, also with Tauck, as was 2015.

    Enjoy !

Don't forget Gent as well. Wonderful town just 1 hour west of Bruges.
